Chancellor Juan Salgado’s update focuses on the upcoming budget to be voted upon next month, he notes it is balanced despite the State’s budget impasse and a drop in enrollment. Reports staffing remains disproportionate to student body and announces cuts of 29 non-faculty members
megwadin @megwadin 6/13
Salgado mentions elements of the budget centred on investment in adult education and ESL classes…presumably in anticipation of the public comments regarding changes to CCC’s high school equivalency and ESL programming.

The first of 13 requests for public comment is Gail Hutchinson, Community Outreach Director for Code Platoon, a VetTech program for veterans and their spouses. Hutchinson requests information and partnerships to address the 50% un/underemployment rate for veterans.

Anthony Feltz is a no-show, Adult Education Coordinator Sonya Flores is up next beginning her comments with accusations that the administration ‘mislead and backstabbed teachers’ with the announcement of cuts and changes to adult education that ‘will be a struggle for families.'
megwadin @megwadin 9/13
